Surgical Extraction Continuing Education | Dental Surgery

At LADD Dental Group, we believe that great dentistry never stops learning.

That is why we are incredibly proud of Dr. Bala Sankurati and Dr. Olsen Cottle, who recently completed an advanced continuing education course focused on surgical tooth extractions. Their commitment to expanding their skills is another example of how our doctors continually invest in providing the highest level of care to the families we are privileged to serve throughout North Central Indiana.

Why Continuing Education Matters

Dentistry is constantly evolving. New techniques, technologies, and clinical research allow dentists to provide care that is safer, more predictable, and more comfortable than ever before.

While earning a dental degree provides an excellent foundation, the very best dentists understand that learning is a lifelong journey. Continuing education allows our providers to refine their skills, learn from nationally recognized experts, and bring those advancements back home to the patients who trust us with their smiles.

At LADD Dental Group, we encourage every member of our clinical team to pursue educational opportunities that help us deliver an even better patient experience.

Improving Surgical Extraction Care

Although our goal is always to help patients preserve their natural teeth whenever possible, there are situations where removing a tooth is the healthiest option.

Whether it's a severely damaged tooth, an advanced infection, a fractured tooth, or preparation for future restorative treatment, surgical extractions sometimes become necessary.

This advanced course gave Dr. Bala and Dr. Cottle additional hands-on training in areas such as:

  • Modern surgical extraction techniques
  • Minimizing trauma to surrounding bone and tissue
  • Improving patient comfort during procedures
  • Managing complex extractions with greater confidence
  • Supporting faster healing and better long-term outcomes
  • Identifying cases that can be treated comfortably in our offices

The result is an even higher level of dental care for our patients when surgical treatment is needed.

What This Means for Our Patients

When our doctors pursue advanced education, our patients benefit.

Additional surgical training can lead to:

  • More efficient procedures
  • Greater comfort during treatment
  • Reduced post-operative discomfort
  • Improved healing
  • Better preservation of bone and surrounding tissues
  • More treatment options available close to home

Many patients feel anxious when they hear they may need a tooth extracted. Knowing that your dentist has invested in advanced surgical education can provide additional peace of mind that you are receiving care from a team committed to clinical excellence.

A Commitment to Excellence

One of our core beliefs at LADD Dental Group is that our patients deserve the very best dental care available. That means investing not only in modern technology, but also in the education and development of our doctors.

We are incredibly proud of Dr. Bala and Dr. Cottle for dedicating their personal time to growing professionally and bringing new knowledge back to our practices. Their commitment reflects the culture we strive to build every day—one centered on continuous improvement, humility, and a genuine passion for serving others.

Family Serving Families

For nearly five decades, LADD Dental Group has been committed to caring for our communities like family. Every course attended, every new technique learned, and every investment we make is ultimately about one thing: providing better care for the people who place their trust in us.

Congratulations to Dr. Bala Sankurati and Dr. Olsen Cottle on completing this outstanding surgical extraction course. We are excited about what this means for our patients today and for the continued growth of our clinical team in the years ahead.

Thank you for allowing us to continue learning, growing, and serving the communities we call home. We look forward to putting this advanced training into practice and helping even more patients receive exceptional, compassionate dental care close to home.

Dental Work | Importance of Routine Dental Care | Preventative Dental Care

Importance of Routine Dental Care  When I was in my 30s and a dentist told me I needed a few crowns , I decided to skip the expensive devices because of my meager paycheck. Besides, my teeth weren't hurting. Years later, I am paying the price in pain and costlier dental work . One of the damaged teeth that needed a crown distorted my bite, making a minor jaw-joint problem even worse. Unfortunately I'm far from alone. The price of dental care is steep for many people financially, physically and even socially, according to Marko Vujicic, chief economist and vice president of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Vujicic said that the  majority of emergency room dental visits  were for infections that could be handled in a dentist's office. Overall, emergency room dental visits cost $1.9 billion yearly, 40 percent of which is public money, according to his institute's analysis of data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quali...
