Laser Dentistry | Benefits of Laser Dental Care
What is Laser Dentistry:
A laser dental treatment works by honing an intense beam of light energy to perform precise dental procedures. They are easy to control and allow dentists to painlessly cut or vaporize tissue on contact, eliminate decay in teeth, and remove soft tissue from gums. Dental lasers work by delivering energy in the form of light. When used for surgical and dental procedures, the laser acts as a cutting instrument or a vaporizer of tissue that it comes in contact with.
Benefits of Laser Dentistry:
One of the primary benefits of laser dentistry is a less painful dental experience for the patient. Dental drills are vibrating the plaque off of your teeth. Laser dentistry vaporizes plaque painlessly and without that scary noise. Another huge benefit of laser dentistry is the reduced likelihood of bacterial infection for the patient post-operative. A laser, like the ones used in dentist offices, are concentrated beams of radioactive light. Because the light is so focused, it can burn into teeth or gums. While this may seem somewhat “SIFI,” it’s not in any way and is very safe.
The reason that there’s a lower chance of bacterial infection is that the heat from the laser sterilizes the area around the procedure. This wouldn’t otherwise happen if a laser wasn’t used for the procedure.
Another advantage of laser dentistry is the reduction of soft tissue bleeding for the patient. If you’ve ever had your gums treated, you may have noticed that they tend to bleed a lot. Another advantage of using lasers is that they promote blood clotting. Because of this, you’ll have less bleeding and, in turn, a better experience.
These are just a few of the major benefits of laser dentistry. Check out the picture below with one of our awesome laser patients, who had a wonderful experience!
