  Why Do I Need A Root Canal | Root Canal Treatment   What is a root canal :  A root canal procedure can be performed by either a dentist or endodontist. During root canal treatment, the dental provider   will  remove the infected pulp and nerve in the root of the tooth , clean and shape the inside of the tooth's root canal, and then fill and seal the inside of the tooth. Afterward, the dentist will place a crown on the tooth to protect and restore it to its original function. A fter the root canal treatment has occurred,  the tooth is now dead . Blood supply has been cut off during the root canal procedure, which leads the tooth to die. The patient will no longer feel any pain in that treated tooth because the nerve tissue has been removed, and the infection has been eliminated.    Why Do I Need a Root Canal:   Root canals are needed  when a tooth is badly decayed or seriously infected and the decay has reached the nerve of the tooth . There are a lot of things to think about and a couple of very important factors that need addressed at the start of the build out. In this blog, we are going to highlight some of the important aspects of a dental office build out and give you some insights into how we designed our new dental practice in Wabash!     Plumbing and electrical work are the two most important factors to consider when building a dental practice ! To run a dental chair effectively, you need electrical and plumbing to hook up to the chair. This takes a lot of pre-planning because it is very difficult and expensive to add these features later. Patterson Dental helped us a ton with getting our dental chairs fully operational in our new office!    Technology is another huge factor that needs to be planned ahead of time.   Dental Surgery Post-Op | Dental Healing     Post dental surgery , it is normal to feel some pain and discomfort after the anesthesia wears off. For 24 hours after having a tooth pulled , you should also expect  some swelling and residual bleeding . Peak swelling will take place at the 72 hour mark, and the pain and swelling should start to dissipate from there. However, if either bleeding or pain is still severe more than four hours after your tooth is pulled, you should call your dentist right away.     Post dental surgery , it is very important the patient not spit or rinse for 24 hours after surgery.   Keep your fingers and tongue away from the extraction site or surgical area.   Use ice packs on surgical area (side of face) for first 24 to 48 hours , apply ice 20 minutes on - 10 minutes off. Ice is very helpful in reducing the swelling post dental extraction .  In terms of time off post dental surgery , typically your dentist will ask that you at least take about 48-72 hours t
