What began as a simple passion for teaching children the sport evolved into one of the most influential community tennis movements in the Midwest. Today, the Barbara S. Wynne Tennis Center stands not only as a premier tennis facility, but as a symbol of what one person’s vision, persistence, and care for young people can accomplish. Barbara Wynne’s impact on tennis in Indiana stretches back decades. In 1969, she began offering public tennis lessons to children at Riverside Park in Indianapolis. What started with roughly 100 children eventually expanded into one of the city’s largest youth tennis initiatives.
