A New Chapter of Clinical Leadership at LADD Dental Group: Welcoming Dr. Greg Velligan

At LADD Dental Group, we have always believed that great dentistry starts with great people, strong relationships, and a commitment to putting patients first. That is why we are so excited to welcome Dr. Greg Velligan as our new Chief Clinical Officer.

Dr. Velligan officially joins the LADD family on September 21, bringing with him 36 years of experience in dentistry, including clinical practice, dental education, multi-site operations, practice ownership, and clinical leadership.

But what excites us most isn't simply his impressive résumé. It is what his experience and passion can mean for our patients, our dentists, and our entire clinical team.

An Advocate for Our Dental Providers

We believe our dentists should have a strong voice in the clinical direction of LADD Dental Group.

Dr. Velligan understands what it is like to sit in the operatories, care for patients, lead a practice, mentor other providers, and navigate the challenges that come with modern dentistry. His experience as a practicing dentist and former practice owner gives him a unique perspective on what our providers experience every day.

As Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Velligan will help strengthen the connection between our clinical teams and our leadership. His role will include mentoring providers, supporting clinical excellence, helping develop our doctors, and making sure the voice of our clinicians remains an important part of our decision-making.

We want our dentists to know that they have someone in leadership who understands their world.

A Better Experience for Our Patients

Ultimately, everything we do at LADD comes back to one question:

How can we provide an even better experience for our patients?

We believe Dr. Velligan's leadership will help us continue raising the standard of care across our organization.

His background in clinical oversight and multi-site dentistry gives him a tremendous understanding of how to build consistency while still allowing individual dentists to practice dentistry in the way that best serves their patients.

That balance is incredibly important to us.

Our goal isn't to make every LADD office feel exactly the same. Our goal is to make sure that every patient who walks through an LADD door experiences the same core commitment to quality, compassion, integrity, and comprehensive family dental care.

Mentorship Matters

One of the things we are most excited about is the opportunity for Dr. Velligan to invest in our providers.

Dentistry is a profession where you never stop learning. Whether someone is a brand-new dentist or has been practicing for decades, there is always an opportunity to learn from another provider's experience.

We believe in creating an environment where our dentists can ask questions, share ideas, learn from one another, and continue developing professionally.

Dr. Velligan's experience as a clinician, educator, and clinical leader makes him an incredible resource for our dental family.

And we believe that when we invest in our providers, our patients ultimately benefit.

We Are Excited About the Future

We are incredibly grateful for the dentists, hygienists, assistants, treatment coordinators, practice managers, and support teams who make LADD Dental Group what it is today.

And we are even more excited about what we can accomplish together in the years ahead.

Dr. Velligan's arrival represents an exciting new chapter for LADD — one that we believe will create better opportunities for our providers, stronger clinical support for our teams, and an even better experience for the families we are privileged to serve.

To Dr. Greg Velligan: welcome to the LADD family!

We are incredibly grateful that you have chosen to join us, and we can't wait to see the impact you will have on our doctors, our teams, and most importantly, our patients.

The future of LADD Dental Group is bright, and we are excited to have you with us for the journey.

Family serving families. Always putting the patient first.

2026 Dental Office Data | Struggling Performance Continues

Over the past decade, the dental industry experienced an unprecedented wave of consolidation. Private equity capital flowed into the profession, Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) expanded rapidly, and large multi-location platforms became a major force in the market. Recently, however, two major organizations— Dental Care Alliance and Affordable Care —have reportedly been taken over by their lenders following financial restructuring challenges. For many in the profession, this raises an important question: What does this mean for the future of dentistry ? The answer is nuanced, but it may signal a turning point for how dental organizations are built and financed going forward. The End of the “Growth at Any Cost” Era For many DSOs, the growth strategy of the past decade was simple: acquire as many practices as possible as quickly as possible. Low interest rates and strong investor appetite made this strategy viable. Debt financing allowed organizations to purchase pract...

Affordable Care Restructure | 2026 Dental Industry Impacts

The convergence of Affordable Care’s restructuring and broader financial strain across large DSOs is more than an isolated credit event — it’s a signal of structural pressure in the dental industry. Below is a strategic, operator-level view of the impacts likely to unfold. 1) Capital structure stress → Slower DSO expansion & recap cycles Affordable Care’s restructuring is largely debt-driven: The company is working with turnaround advisers after a $2.7B leveraged buyout left it with expensive floating-rate debt. Rising interest rates materially increased debt service costs. This dynamic is industry-wide: Many DSOs and small groups financed growth with variable debt that has jumped from ~4% to 10%+ interest costs. Some platforms have been unable to recapitalize amid economic uncertainty. Impacts Fewer aggressive roll-ups and de novo expansions Lower EBITDA multiples on acquisitions More minority recap deals vs. full exits Delayed liquidity e...
