Welcome Dr. Greg Velligan | Chief Clinical Officer

We are incredibly thrilled to welcome Dr. Greg Velligan to the LADD Dental Group family as our new Chief Clinical Officer!

Dr. Velligan brings an impressive 36 years of experience in the dental profession, with a career that includes clinical practice, practice ownership, dental education, multi-site dental operations, and clinical leadership. We couldn't be more excited to have someone with his experience, passion, and perspective joining our team.

What excites us most about Dr. Velligan joining LADD is his commitment to supporting and mentoring dentists and clinical teams.

We believe that great dentistry starts with great people. Our doctors and clinical team members are the heart of everything we do, and having strong clinical leadership is incredibly important as we continue to grow. Dr. Velligan will help provide our providers with another valuable resource, advocate for our clinical teams, and help us continue to elevate the standard of care we provide to our patients.

Throughout his career, Dr. Velligan has experienced dentistry from virtually every angle. He has practiced clinically, owned a dental practice, worked in multi-location dental organizations, served in clinical leadership, and been involved in dental education. Most recently, he served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Indiana University School of Dentistry and as an Enterprise Dental Director for CareSource, providing clinical oversight and utilization management leadership for dental programs across multiple states.

That diverse experience gives Dr. Velligan a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing dentists today.

At LADD, we don't believe clinical leadership should simply be about policies and procedures. We believe it should be about people, relationships, mentorship, communication, and supporting our providers.

We want our dentists to know they have someone in their corner.

Someone they can learn from.

Someone they can turn to.

Someone who understands what it is like to sit on both sides of the dental chair — as a clinician and as a leader.

We believe Dr. Velligan will be that person for our clinical teams.

As a family-run dental organization, we have always tried to take a different approach to growth. We want to grow slowly and intentionally, while maintaining the culture and relationships that have made LADD special for nearly five decades.

Our goal isn't simply to add more offices or see more patients. It's to create an environment where dentists can build meaningful careers, clinical teams can continue to grow, and patients can receive exceptional comprehensive family dental care.

Dr. Velligan will be an important part of that mission.

We are incredibly grateful that he has chosen to join LADD Dental Group, and we are excited for the knowledge, experience, mentorship, and leadership he will bring to our organization.

Welcome to the LADD family, Dr. Velligan!

We are so excited for this next chapter and for everything we will accomplish together.

Family serving families.

That is who we are, and we couldn't be more excited to have Dr. Greg Velligan helping us carry that mission forward.

2026 Dental Office Data | Struggling Performance Continues

Over the past decade, the dental industry experienced an unprecedented wave of consolidation. Private equity capital flowed into the profession, Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) expanded rapidly, and large multi-location platforms became a major force in the market. Recently, however, two major organizations— Dental Care Alliance and Affordable Care —have reportedly been taken over by their lenders following financial restructuring challenges. For many in the profession, this raises an important question: What does this mean for the future of dentistry ? The answer is nuanced, but it may signal a turning point for how dental organizations are built and financed going forward. The End of the “Growth at Any Cost” Era For many DSOs, the growth strategy of the past decade was simple: acquire as many practices as possible as quickly as possible. Low interest rates and strong investor appetite made this strategy viable. Debt financing allowed organizations to purchase pract...

Affordable Care Restructure | 2026 Dental Industry Impacts

The convergence of Affordable Care’s restructuring and broader financial strain across large DSOs is more than an isolated credit event — it’s a signal of structural pressure in the dental industry. Below is a strategic, operator-level view of the impacts likely to unfold. 1) Capital structure stress → Slower DSO expansion & recap cycles Affordable Care’s restructuring is largely debt-driven: The company is working with turnaround advisers after a $2.7B leveraged buyout left it with expensive floating-rate debt. Rising interest rates materially increased debt service costs. This dynamic is industry-wide: Many DSOs and small groups financed growth with variable debt that has jumped from ~4% to 10%+ interest costs. Some platforms have been unable to recapitalize amid economic uncertainty. Impacts Fewer aggressive roll-ups and de novo expansions Lower EBITDA multiples on acquisitions More minority recap deals vs. full exits Delayed liquidity e...
