New Chief Clinical Officer | Welcome Dr. Greg Velligan

At LADD Dental Group, we believe the strength of our organization has always come down to one thing: our people.

That is why we are incredibly grateful and excited to announce that Dr. Greg Velligan will be joining the LADD Dental Group family as our new Chief Clinical Officer on September 21, 2026!

Dr. Velligan brings with him an incredible 36 years of experience in dentistry, with a career that spans clinical practice, dental education, multi-site dental operations, and clinical leadership. He has owned and operated a dental practice, served as a Chief Clinical Officer for a DSO with more than 15 locations, worked in dental education, and most recently served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Indiana University School of Dentistry while also serving as an Enterprise Dental Director for CareSource.

But while his experience and accomplishments are impressive, what excites us most is what Dr. Velligan brings to LADD: a passion for people, mentorship, clinical excellence, and helping dental professionals grow.

Putting Providers First

One of the things we value most about Dr. Velligan is his understanding that great dentistry starts with great relationships.

Our dentists and clinical teams are the heart of LADD Dental Group. Their ability to provide exceptional care depends on having the right support, resources, mentorship, and leadership around them.

As Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Velligan will play an important role in helping us continue to build a clinical culture where our providers feel supported, represented, challenged, and encouraged to grow.

We want our doctors to know that they have a voice.

We want them to have access to mentorship and continuing education.

And most importantly, we want them to know that we are invested in their long-term success.

Continuing to Build a Culture of Mentorship

One of the most exciting opportunities ahead is creating even more opportunities for our experienced doctors to mentor the next generation of LADD providers.

Dentistry is a profession where experience matters tremendously. There are lessons that can only be learned through years of treating patients, managing teams, navigating difficult cases, and building relationships within a community.

Dr. Velligan has spent decades gaining that experience, and we are excited for him to share it with our growing LADD family.

We believe mentorship creates a ripple effect:

Experienced doctors help develop younger doctors. Younger doctors become stronger clinicians. Stronger clinicians create better patient experiences. And better patient experiences strengthen the communities we are privileged to serve.

That is the kind of culture we want to continue building.

A Heartfelt Welcome

To Dr. Velligan, welcome to the LADD Dental Group family!

We are grateful that your 36 years of experience, knowledge, and passion for dentistry are now going to become part of our organization.

We are excited about the mentorship you will provide, the relationships you will build, and the impact you will have on our doctors and clinical teams.

Most importantly, we are excited about what we can accomplish together.

At LADD Dental Group, we have always believed that the best organizations are built by people who genuinely care about one another and the patients they serve.

We are incredibly thankful to have Dr. Velligan joining our team and look forward to this next chapter.

Welcome to the LADD family, Dr. Velligan!

2026 Dental Office Data | Struggling Performance Continues

Over the past decade, the dental industry experienced an unprecedented wave of consolidation. Private equity capital flowed into the profession, Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) expanded rapidly, and large multi-location platforms became a major force in the market. Recently, however, two major organizations— Dental Care Alliance and Affordable Care —have reportedly been taken over by their lenders following financial restructuring challenges. For many in the profession, this raises an important question: What does this mean for the future of dentistry ? The answer is nuanced, but it may signal a turning point for how dental organizations are built and financed going forward. The End of the “Growth at Any Cost” Era For many DSOs, the growth strategy of the past decade was simple: acquire as many practices as possible as quickly as possible. Low interest rates and strong investor appetite made this strategy viable. Debt financing allowed organizations to purchase pract...

Affordable Care Restructure | 2026 Dental Industry Impacts

The convergence of Affordable Care’s restructuring and broader financial strain across large DSOs is more than an isolated credit event — it’s a signal of structural pressure in the dental industry. Below is a strategic, operator-level view of the impacts likely to unfold. 1) Capital structure stress → Slower DSO expansion & recap cycles Affordable Care’s restructuring is largely debt-driven: The company is working with turnaround advisers after a $2.7B leveraged buyout left it with expensive floating-rate debt. Rising interest rates materially increased debt service costs. This dynamic is industry-wide: Many DSOs and small groups financed growth with variable debt that has jumped from ~4% to 10%+ interest costs. Some platforms have been unable to recapitalize amid economic uncertainty. Impacts Fewer aggressive roll-ups and de novo expansions Lower EBITDA multiples on acquisitions More minority recap deals vs. full exits Delayed liquidity e...
