About CareCredit:
We do something very simple at CareCredit: we help people get the care they want for themselves and their families.
And, for us, that's very important. Together, with over 200,000 health-focused provider and retail locations, we're helping people access care.
Thousands of times each day, people are using their CareCredit health, wellness and beauty credit card to have important dental work done, be fitted with new hearing aids, have vision or cosmetic procedures, and get care for a beloved family pet.
We help make it easy for people to get the care they want and need, right when they need it, without having to delay treatment or appointments.
For over 30 years, CareCredit has been providing a valuable financing option for treatments and procedures that typically are not covered by insurance, or for times when insurance doesn't cover the full amount. CareCredit is also used by cardholders to pay for deductibles and co-payments.
We think people like having financial options, because that gives them the freedom to make decisions about treatment options. So they can do what's best for their situation and their family.
That's why CareCredit is here. We help make care possible ... today. CareCredit, from Synchrony, is one of the largest and most popular health, wellness and beauty credit cards in the nation, serving millions of families each year.

It all started with a smile
Our story begins in 1987, when a man named Ralph Stern owned a company that made dental implants. At the time, dental implants were fairly new, and Ralph wanted to figure out how to get more people to benefit from this new technology.
Talking with oral surgeons and periodontists made Ralph realize that they had plenty of potential patients; what they needed was a way to help patients pay for their implants and get the care they needed.
Ralph and his team thought, "What if we came up with a private label credit card - similar to the kind that stores offer - and it could be used for dental care? " The company they created was called DenCharge.
Ralph and his team also realized that DenCharge could do a better job of billing patients than a dentist could - allowing dentists more time to focus on dentistry and running their practice.
The business expanded dramatically and soon we were serving dentists, chiropractors and veterinarians. Realizing we had outgrown our name, we changed it to CareCredit to describe what we did and yet still be flexible enough for future growth.
Before long, we were serving providers and patients in cosmetic surgery, LASIK surgery, audiology, hair replacement, and many other categories.
And if you jump ahead to where we are today, the CareCredit credit card is accepted at more than 200,000 enrolled provider and health-focused retail locations and is used by more than 11 million + cardholders. Today many of them are also using CareCredit for their everyday health and personal care purchases at places like Rite Aid and LensCrafters. They are even using their card for copayments, deductibles, and prescriptions as out-of-pocket costs continue to rise.
It just goes to show what can happen when somebody sees a problem and decides to fix it. Thirty years later, we're continuing our journey to give people more opportunities to get the care they want and need.
