Dentist in Geist | LADD Dental Group

Dentist in Geist | LADD Dental Group

Dr. David Geiger is excited about joining LADD Dental Group in McCordsville for many reasons.
A Geist native, Dr. Geiger graduated from Lawrence Central High School and attended DePauw University in Greencastle before meeting his wife Kelsey in dental school at the University of Louisville back in 2015. Kelsey decided to join the Air Force and the couple was stationed in California for a year after dental school, followed by Missouri where Dr. Geiger has honed his oral surgery skills.
Even while venturing out to the west coast after finishing dental school, Dr. Geiger always had his sights set on eventually returning to the Hoosier state where he grew up.
Last summer Dalton Albertin, director of marketing and business development with LADD Dental Group, reached out to Dr. Geiger about joining the LADD team at its McCordsville office, which opened in November of 2017. After Kelsey completed her service in the Air Force, the couple made plans to relocate to Central Indiana.
“It’s always been the ultimate goal to come back, and I didn’t realize 12 years ago life would take me across the country,” Dr. Geiger says. “I’m so pumped to be back home. I’ve had great experiences where we’ve been, but Indiana to me is home — specifically the Geist area where I grew up.”
Kelsey has also joined the LADD team part-time at its Kokomo office.
“It’s such a great opportunity and we’re thankful to be coming home and start seeing family and friends,” Dr. Geiger says. “My mom is involved with Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and we have a ton of connections in the area.”

Founded in Kokomo in 1978, LADD Dental Group currently operates six locations in north Central Indiana, and Albertin feels LADD’s well-rounded staff of general dentists and dental specialists, along with its affordable pricing, have allowed the company to grow for more than 40 years.
“We’re a family serving families,” says Albertin, who serves as a member-at-large with the Fortville-McCordsville Area Chamber of Commerce. “My sister-in-law Kendall Ladd is practice manager of the McCordsville office, and my wife Mary is the Chief Executive Officer. To have David and Kelsey coming on the team is exciting.”
Dr. Geiger says LADD Dental Group’s comprehensive suite of dental services, available for all ages, is relatively rare in the dental world.
“When we first moved out to California I was doing a lot of crown and bridge dentistry, then in Missouri I got into root canals and oral surgery, which is what I really have a passion for,” Dr. Geiger says. “It’s important to me to be able to offer all treatments and not have to refer patients somewhere else. You don’t find that often, and LADD can take care of almost any kind of case without referring patients out.”
LADD Dental Group accepts most forms of insurance including Medicaid and HIP, which Albertin says is of primary importance to the entire staff.
“Our view on pricing, especially for sedation dentistry, is that we want patients to get the care they need,” he says. “We offer affordable sedation dentistry options and that includes sedation from our specialists. We don’t want cost to keep our patients away from getting the care they need and deserve.”
LADD uses cloud-based dental management software, allowing its group of dentists to work together efficiently to come up with the best patient plans by sharing patient x-rays, images and treatment notes easily.
“It makes a huge difference when people really care about each other, and that’s something that you can see in every LADD dental office and specifically McCordsville,” Dr. Geiger adds. “It’s really cool to be back and working three miles away from where I used to live on the water and where my parents still live in the same house. I’m appreciative to be part of the LADD dental family.”

2026 Dental Office Data | Struggling Performance Continues

Over the past decade, the dental industry experienced an unprecedented wave of consolidation. Private equity capital flowed into the profession, Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) expanded rapidly, and large multi-location platforms became a major force in the market. Recently, however, two major organizations— Dental Care Alliance and Affordable Care —have reportedly been taken over by their lenders following financial restructuring challenges. For many in the profession, this raises an important question: What does this mean for the future of dentistry ? The answer is nuanced, but it may signal a turning point for how dental organizations are built and financed going forward. The End of the “Growth at Any Cost” Era For many DSOs, the growth strategy of the past decade was simple: acquire as many practices as possible as quickly as possible. Low interest rates and strong investor appetite made this strategy viable. Debt financing allowed organizations to purchase pract...

Affordable Care Restructure | 2026 Dental Industry Impacts

The convergence of Affordable Care’s restructuring and broader financial strain across large DSOs is more than an isolated credit event — it’s a signal of structural pressure in the dental industry. Below is a strategic, operator-level view of the impacts likely to unfold. 1) Capital structure stress → Slower DSO expansion & recap cycles Affordable Care’s restructuring is largely debt-driven: The company is working with turnaround advisers after a $2.7B leveraged buyout left it with expensive floating-rate debt. Rising interest rates materially increased debt service costs. This dynamic is industry-wide: Many DSOs and small groups financed growth with variable debt that has jumped from ~4% to 10%+ interest costs. Some platforms have been unable to recapitalize amid economic uncertainty. Impacts Fewer aggressive roll-ups and de novo expansions Lower EBITDA multiples on acquisitions More minority recap deals vs. full exits Delayed liquidity e...
