I Have Dental Anxiety | Sedation Dentist Near Me

I Have Dental Anxiety | Sedation Dentist Near Me

Do You Struggle With Dental Anxiety?

If you, you are not alone! According to researchers, anywhere between 50 and 80% of adults in the United States have some degree of dental anxiety, ranging from mild to severe. More than 20% of dentally anxious patients do not see a dentist regularly, and anywhere from 9 to 15% of anxious patients avoid care altogether. That is why we are here to change that!

What Is Sedation Dentistry?!

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It’s sometimes referred to as “sleep dentistry,” although that’s not entirely accurate. Patients are usually awake with the exception of those who are under IV (General) Sedation. The levels of sedation dentistry used include:

  • Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) is the most common form of sedation dentistry.
  • Oral Conscious Sedation is a medication that is provided in the dental office to help patients stay calm and relaxed throughout their appointment. Oral sedation will suppress the gag reflex, suppress pain responses, reduce anxiety, and more. However, these dental sedation methods usually last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours after the procedure. The type of drug you take will determine how long it will take the sedation to wear off.
  • IV Sedation is the most aggressive and predictable form of sedation dentistry. Here at LADD Dental Group, we only provide this form of sedation dentistry at our Oral Surgery Center.

In this video above, Dr. Geiger is providing a high level overview of the Oral Conscious Sedation Process. Dental Work | Importance of Routine Dental Care | Preventative Dental Care

Importance of Routine Dental Care  When I was in my 30s and a dentist told me I needed a few crowns , I decided to skip the expensive devices because of my meager paycheck. Besides, my teeth weren't hurting. Years later, I am paying the price in pain and costlier dental work . One of the damaged teeth that needed a crown distorted my bite, making a minor jaw-joint problem even worse. Unfortunately I'm far from alone. The price of dental care is steep for many people financially, physically and even socially, according to Marko Vujicic, chief economist and vice president of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Vujicic said that the  majority of emergency room dental visits  were for infections that could be handled in a dentist's office. Overall, emergency room dental visits cost $1.9 billion yearly, 40 percent of which is public money, according to his institute's analysis of data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quali...
