Indiana Medicaid Dental Benefits | Latest Indiana Managed Care Dental Benefits

At LADD Dental Group, we believe every family deserves access to quality dental care. As a proud provider serving North Central Indiana communities, we know that navigating insurance changes can sometimes feel overwhelming. That's why we're committed to helping our patients understand the latest updates to Indiana Medicaid and Managed Care dental programs—and what they mean for your family's oral health.

A New Managed Care Landscape

One of the biggest recent changes for Indiana Medicaid members is the transition of Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Beginning in 2026, MDwise is no longer participating as a statewide Indiana Medicaid managed care plan. Many members were asked to choose a new health plan during open enrollment, and those who did not make a selection were automatically assigned to another participating plan.

For many patients, this means:

  • Your Medicaid plan may have changed.
  • You may have received a new insurance card.
  • It's important to verify that your dental provider participates with your new plan before your next appointment.

Our team is always happy to help patients verify their benefits and understand their coverage before treatment.

Dental Benefits Continue to Play an Important Role

Indiana continues to recognize that oral health is an essential part of overall health. Medicaid dental benefits help eligible children and adults receive preventive and restorative care, including services such as:

  • Routine dental exams
  • Professional cleanings
  • Dental X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Tooth extractions
  • Emergency dental treatment
  • Additional services when medically necessary and approved

Some procedures may still require prior authorization depending on your specific Managed Care plan.

Preventive Care Saves Families Money

One of the greatest advantages of Medicaid dental coverage is access to preventive care.

Regular dental visits help detect problems early, often preventing more expensive and uncomfortable treatment later. Small cavities can be treated before they become painful infections, and routine cleanings help reduce the risk of gum disease and tooth loss.

For children, consistent preventive care also supports healthy development, improved confidence, and better success in school.

Why Access to Care Matters

Across Indiana, many communities continue to experience shortages of dental providers who accept Medicaid patients. While Medicaid coverage is available, finding a participating dentist can still be challenging in some areas. Expanding access to care remains an important priority for improving oral health outcomes throughout the state.

At LADD Dental Group, we are proud to be part of the solution by welcoming Medicaid patients and serving families throughout North Central Indiana.

What Patients Should Do

If you or your child are covered by Indiana Medicaid, we encourage you to:

  • Review your current Managed Care plan.
  • Bring your updated insurance card to your next appointment.
  • Schedule routine preventive visits every six months.
  • Contact our office if you have questions about your coverage or eligibility.

Our administrative team works with patients every day to help maximize their dental benefits and minimize surprises.

Our Commitment to Indiana Families

Since 1978, LADD Dental Group has believed that every patient deserves compassionate, high-quality dental care regardless of their insurance coverage. We are grateful for the opportunity to care for thousands of Indiana families and remain committed to helping patients understand changes to their dental benefits as Indiana's healthcare landscape continues to evolve.

Dental Work | Importance of Routine Dental Care | Preventative Dental Care

Importance of Routine Dental Care  When I was in my 30s and a dentist told me I needed a few crowns , I decided to skip the expensive devices because of my meager paycheck. Besides, my teeth weren't hurting. Years later, I am paying the price in pain and costlier dental work . One of the damaged teeth that needed a crown distorted my bite, making a minor jaw-joint problem even worse. Unfortunately I'm far from alone. The price of dental care is steep for many people financially, physically and even socially, according to Marko Vujicic, chief economist and vice president of the Health Policy Institute at the American Dental Association. Vujicic said that the  majority of emergency room dental visits  were for infections that could be handled in a dentist's office. Overall, emergency room dental visits cost $1.9 billion yearly, 40 percent of which is public money, according to his institute's analysis of data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quali...
