Officially Welcome Dr. Greg Velligan | Chief Clinical Officer

Today is an exciting day for the entire LADD Dental Group family as Dr. Greg Velligan officially begins his journey with our organization as our Chief Clinical Officer.

We have been looking forward to this day for quite some time, and we couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead.

Dr. Velligan brings 36 years of experience in dentistry, including clinical practice, dental education, multi-site dental operations, practice ownership, and clinical leadership. His experience has given him a unique perspective on what it takes to support both excellent patient care and the dental professionals who provide it.

But what excites us most isn't simply his impressive résumé.

It is who Dr. Velligan is and what he brings to the table as a leader, mentor, and dentist.

Hitting the Ground Running

From the very beginning, Dr. Velligan has understood something that is incredibly important to us at LADD:

Our organization is built around people.

Our patients.
Our doctors.
Our hygienists.
Our assistants.
Our treatment coordinators.
Our practice managers.
Our entire LADD Dental family.

The role of Chief Clinical Officer isn't simply about clinical protocols or procedures. It is about creating an environment where our providers feel supported, heard, challenged, and encouraged to continue growing.

That's why we are so excited to have Dr. Velligan hitting the ground running.

He will be spending time with our clinical teams, getting to know our providers, listening to their experiences, understanding their challenges, and learning what makes each of our offices unique.

At the same time, he will be sharing the tremendous amount of knowledge he has accumulated throughout his career.

Mentorship Matters

One of the things we value most about having an experienced clinician in a leadership role is the opportunity for mentorship.

Dentistry can be an incredibly rewarding profession, but it can also be challenging. Having someone who has spent decades in the profession—and has experienced many of the same challenges our providers face—can make a tremendous difference.

We want our doctors to know that they don't have to navigate their careers alone.

Whether it is discussing a complex clinical situation, talking through treatment planning, developing leadership skills, improving clinical systems, or simply having someone to call when they need another perspective, we want Dr. Velligan to be a resource for our entire clinical team.

Better Providers. Better Patient Experiences.

Ultimately, everything we do at LADD comes back to our patients.

When we invest in our providers, we are investing in the people who care for our patients every single day.

When our doctors feel supported, they can focus more of their energy on delivering exceptional care. When our clinical teams have opportunities to learn and grow, our patients benefit. And when we create an environment centered around collaboration and mentorship, everyone becomes better.

That is the opportunity we see with Dr. Velligan.

His leadership will help us continue building a clinical culture where excellence, compassion, education, and patient-centered care go hand in hand.

A New Chapter for LADD

LADD Dental Group has always believed in the idea of family serving families.

As we continue to grow, we want to make sure that growth never comes at the expense of the relationships and culture that have made LADD special since 1978.

Adding Dr. Velligan to our leadership team is an important step in that journey.

We are grateful that he has chosen to become part of our family, and we are excited to see the impact he will have on our doctors, our teams, and ultimately the families we are privileged to serve.

Welcome to LADD, Dr. Greg Velligan!

We are excited to have you here, excited about what we can accomplish together, and most importantly, excited about the positive impact you will have on the people who make LADD Dental Group what it is.

Let's get to work!

2026 Dental Office Data | Struggling Performance Continues

Over the past decade, the dental industry experienced an unprecedented wave of consolidation. Private equity capital flowed into the profession, Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) expanded rapidly, and large multi-location platforms became a major force in the market. Recently, however, two major organizations— Dental Care Alliance and Affordable Care —have reportedly been taken over by their lenders following financial restructuring challenges. For many in the profession, this raises an important question: What does this mean for the future of dentistry ? The answer is nuanced, but it may signal a turning point for how dental organizations are built and financed going forward. The End of the “Growth at Any Cost” Era For many DSOs, the growth strategy of the past decade was simple: acquire as many practices as possible as quickly as possible. Low interest rates and strong investor appetite made this strategy viable. Debt financing allowed organizations to purchase pract...

Affordable Care Restructure | 2026 Dental Industry Impacts

The convergence of Affordable Care’s restructuring and broader financial strain across large DSOs is more than an isolated credit event — it’s a signal of structural pressure in the dental industry. Below is a strategic, operator-level view of the impacts likely to unfold. 1) Capital structure stress → Slower DSO expansion & recap cycles Affordable Care’s restructuring is largely debt-driven: The company is working with turnaround advisers after a $2.7B leveraged buyout left it with expensive floating-rate debt. Rising interest rates materially increased debt service costs. This dynamic is industry-wide: Many DSOs and small groups financed growth with variable debt that has jumped from ~4% to 10%+ interest costs. Some platforms have been unable to recapitalize amid economic uncertainty. Impacts Fewer aggressive roll-ups and de novo expansions Lower EBITDA multiples on acquisitions More minority recap deals vs. full exits Delayed liquidity e...
